Great Plains continues to expand its highly-successful PL-Series family of planters. Launched in 2018, the PL-Series planters were developed to provide accurate and consistent seed singulation, spacing, depth control, soil contact, and trench closing – all leading to even emergence and increased crop yields for producers. Models in the PL-Series include the PL5500, PL5700, PL5800, and most recently, the PL5200.

Great Plains has recently developed a new solution in its hybrid tillage line-up – the Terra-Max. Great Plains defines hybrid tillage as a tillage system that uses a blend of vertical and conventional tillage methods or tools that allow for an aggressive field pass at faster operating speeds. Named “Terra”, meaning “Earth,” the Terra-Max is a versatile soil management solution that can be used as primary and secondary tillage to address a wide variety of needs from killing weeds and sizing residue to preparing a perfect seedbed.
The Great Plains box drill legacy continues with a new line of min-till folding box drills, the BD7600 Series. The new drills are offered in two-section and three-section models in sizes ranging from 26' to 40'. Chris Coleman, Great Plains Engineering Manager, says, “The BD7600 is an exciting development for the product line that launched the Great Plains story with its original 30-foot folding full press drill over 40 years ago.
For producers who are looking for top-of-the-line planter accuracy but want to get back to the basics, Great Plains has developed the new PL5700 front-fold planters. “The new PL5700 has been purposefully-developed for 30" rows, which will provide more opportunities for us to reach the corn belt,” says Rye DeGarmo, Vice President of Great Plains Engineering.
Now available in smaller sizes, the Great Plains 7000 Series Disk Harrow delivers reliable, quality conventional tillage in a highly competitive disk harrow market. With new 10', 12', and 15' working widths, sizes are available up to 36' to fit a variety of operations.
Great Plains has developed a hybrid tillage solution called the Velocity. The Velocity combines some of the positive aspects of vertical tillage, while maintaining similar features of a conventional disk, resulting in a new classification in the Great Plains product line called hybrid tillage.
For tillage producers who are looking for new ways to maximize efficiency and make data-driven decisions about their fields, Great Plains has released a new technology called Implement Command™. Available on new 18' to 35' Turbo-Maxes, Implement Command allows producers to make active decisions and on-the-go, real-time field adjustments to improve yields and soil health. For user comfort and convenience, this system allows producers to set, adjust, and monitor the performance of their Turbo-Max right from the tractor cab.
With recent federal regulations in the United States recognizing industrial hemp as an agricultural product, farmers have gained considerable interest in the crop. For hemp growers, the cost of seed is a large expense and seeds must be planted under optimum agronomic conditions. Great Plains has developed specially-designed hemp seed discs for its PL Series and Yield-Pro® Planters to achieve precise seed placement and help meet the needs of today’s industrial hemp growers.

For growers who require an implement capable of handling a large amount of acreage, Great Plains has released a new air drill cart, the ADC2352. The air drill cart features two, 175-bushel tanks, for a total seeding capacity of 350 bushel. For maximum efficiency, the two tanks can be run simultaneously or independently, allowing producers to accurately meter and apply a wide range of seeds and dry products.
To meet peanut producers’ needs for an accurate and versatile planter, Great Plains has developed a planter optimized for peanut planting that will be released in Fall 2018. The new Peanut Planter (YP625A3PP) offers peanut producers specialized peanut discs designed to accurately meter all sizes of peanut varieties, while also having multiple seed discs that are easily changed to plant other crops, such as corn or soybeans.
Great Plains Manufacturing–Ag Division announced that it will now serve as the distributor for select Kverneland Group (KVG) products in the United States, specifically Kverneland tillage equipment, Vicon disc spreaders, and all parts support for any seeding and tillage products previously sold. For over 40 years, Great Plains has been recognized as an industry-leading manufacturer of tillage, seeding, and nutrient application equipment, while providing dealers and customers with dedicated parts, service and product support.
Great Plains introduces the exclusive Ultra-Disk™, a fresh tillage solution that will allow farmers to slice through high-residue field conditions at higher operating speeds than conventional disks. The Ultra-Disk is equipped with 24-inch blades and higher clearance between gangs, along with shorter front-to-rear gang spreads to maintain consistent depth across the entire width of the machine. Great Plains debuted the Ultra-Disk at the Great Plains National Dealer Meeting in Des Moines.
Following the tradition of providing excellent dealer and customer support, the Great Plains Ag Division has restructured the sales regions to better serve its dealer network and its customers. Effective immediately, Great Plains has increased the number of sales regions from two to four regions. The plan for restructuring includes an expansion of regional sales managers, product specialists, and inside sales support. Dan Bratt, former National Sales Manager, has been promoted to Vice President of Sales.
Great Plains Manufacturing is pleased to welcome Blake Bergkamp as the Sales Agronomist for the Ag Division. Bergkamp grew up near Pretty Prairie, Kansas, and later attended Kansas State University where he received a degree in Agricultural Economics. In 2017, Bergkamp earned his MS degree in Agronomy, also from Kansas State.
With the popularity of canola on the rise across the United States, Great Plains is bringing singulation and spacing accuracy to producers seeding canola. A specially designed canola seed disc delivers singulation and precise placement of costly canola seed, in contrast to broadcast seeding methods. The canola disc is part of an extensive list of Air-Pro® Meter Discs for seeding corn, soybeans, milo, sunflowers, cotton, wheat, and sugar beets.
Great Plains has reintroduced its award-winning high-speed anhydrous coulter with several improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and versatility of the Nutri-Pro® precision nutrient application line.
Released in 2014, the revolutionary anhydrous coulter earned a 2015 AE50 Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, but Great Plains engineers remained dedicated to making this good product even better.

High Plains wheat farmers who conventionally till large acreages will appreciate the time and cost savings offered by the new Field Cultivator Air Drill from Great Plains.
The unique machine combines a Great Plains Field Cultivator with Great Plains 00 Series Drill Openers, allowing operators to till soil and drill seed at the same time. The Field Cultivator Air Drill’s high productivity means less time in the field and lower input costs for farmers.
Five years after introducing Turbo-Max® to the vertical tillage market, Great Plains is expanding the industry-leading product line to accommodate a wider range of farming operations.
With the release of the smaller 8½- and 10-foot Turbo-Max models for lower horsepower tractors and a 48-foot Turbo-Max for larger tractors, more farmers will have access to the benefits of true vertical tillage, which translates to improved water infiltration, root development, and nutrient uptake.
Developed specifically for the Delta region, but with nationwide appeal, Great Plains has released a new 30-foot stack-fold planter with individual hoppers. The simple, yet rugged, 3P3025AH Planter was designed in response to the popularity of its 40-foot predecessor.
“The 3P3025AH offers growers a unique variety of row spacings that are less common in the stack-fold planter marketplace today,” said Mike Cleveland, Great Plains Vice President of Sales. These include 15-inch single- and twin-row configurations, as well as 20-, 22-, 30-, 36-, and 38-inch single-row designs.
To accommodate the needs of today’s large acreage farmers, Great Plains is expanding its line of heavy-duty chisel plows with a new Ultra-Chisel™ model. Ranging from 39 to 45 feet wide, the new five-section Ultra-Chisel offers wider working widths than the original models, which were released in 2015.
“We are proud to introduce the five-section Ultra-Chisels in 2016, which offer a wide working width in the field, along with narrow road transport,” said Great Plains Vice President of Sales Mike Cleveland.
Great Plains introduces a new line of Rotary Cutters, delivering effective grounds-maintenance solutions to ag producers of all sizes.
Whether it’s a narrowly-spaced tree grove, gently-sloped ground near a pond or stream, or wide-open pasture, the diverse Rotary Cutter line is equipped to tackle everything from standing residue in row-crop fields to weeds and brush in overrun pastures.
Sold through authorized Great Plains dealers, the new line of two- and three-blade, multi-spindle cutters includes both rigid and folding models. Working widths span eight to 20 feet.
